LockItTight

When we are in public places, we always tend to keep a tight grip on our laptops or mobile phones, because they are too valuable to lose. If someone steals one of these devices, it is next to impossible to track them down, even for the police. This is where LockItTight comes in to help you. It is similar to a keylogger application, but it can be used to locate computers or mobile phones. All you have to do is install the application. If your device is stolen, you can activate the software's tracking and monitoring features. You will be able to see where it is, view snapshots of your screen and if you have a webcam, you may even see the culprit.

Before installing the application, you will need to create a LockItTight online account. The setup wizard will ask for the username and password. Once the credentials are verified, you may proceed with the software's installation. Creating and using a LockItTight account is free, but you can upgrade to a paid version, which offers additional features.

LockItTight does not come with an interface, it will not display a system tray icon (by default) and it will not show up as a running process in the Windows Task Manager. The software is undetectable, so no one will know about it, in case your computer, laptop or mobile phone gets stolen. You may configure the application remotely, on the LockItTight web site where your devices are displayed in a table of contents, along with information like the used operating system, when the last report was made and the location of your device.

Clicking a device's name will take you to control panel, where you will find additional information and a series of web links, on the right side of the page, which let you access various reports, generated by the application. You can view your device's estimated position, on a Google Powered map, screenshots, webcam recordings, monitored files, keystrokes clipboards and browser history.

The settings panel contains various options for enabling or disabling certain monitors. It is possible to set a wakeup and a report interval, set the application to report the location, enable remote file retrieval and remote file erasing, encrypt the captured information and more. It is also possible to activate a FamilyShield feature, powered by OpenDNS. It will block adult websites and protect anyone from phishing or malware. This enables you to use LockItTight as a parental control tool as well.
